Traffic in human beings is one of the most bashful curses of our times. “Traffic in chidren”, “white slave trade” “child soldiers” … are unfortunately not past stories nor myths or false inventions.

According to data from United Nations, it is estimated that 2,000,000 people are victims of human trafficking in the world.

Progress in human genetics enables to fight more effectively against this crime, using genetic identification of victims and their relatives. The fight must focus on a triple objective: to identify the victims and return them to their families (reunification); to hamper traffic in human beings thanks to identification of victims, and to gather information on the origins, the routes and the means of this crime (police intelligence), key elements for the work of police forces and judicial systems.

DNA-Prokids 1^st International Conference will be held with the aim of creating an international alliance against children trafficking by making the most of new genetic identification techniques. The sectors concerned are brought together to create a productive debate, to unify not only practices and criteria but also, objectives against one of the one of the most frequent and profitable crimes in the 21^st century
