Thailand join forces to deter child trafficking
Por admin • 26 Jan, 2010 • Sección: Latests newsRoyal Thai Police’s Institute of Forensic Medicine (IFM), Police General hospital of Thailand (www.ifm.go.th) has hosted the visit of two forensic scientists, Dr. Jose Lorente and Dr. Arthur Eisenberg, as part of their participation in the DNA Prokids program, (www.dna-prokids.org) initiative of the University of Granada, Spain and the University of North Texas, USA.
This initiative pushes for the use of DNA testing in the fight against all forms of child trafficking and seeks to establish an international network of forensic DNA laboratories that could share information, scientific expertise and resources.
The Satellite Meeting on “DNA-PROKIDS:USING DNA TO HELP FIGHT CHILD-TRAFFICKING” has being attended by more than 200 participants, including judges, attorneys scientists, physicians, lawyers and NGOs. The aim is to establish a world alliance against traffic in human beings through new technologies for genetic identification.
